Abstract
This article aims to engage with the work of Adolfo Gilly and Florestan Fernandes on the relevance of the concept of interrupted revolution and the concept of permanent revolution in the capitalist realities of Latin America. It presents a brief description of the processes of bourgeois revolution in Mexico and Brazil, illustrating Gilly's concepts of interrupted revolution and Fernandes' concepts of permanent counterrevolution. It also discusses some strategic formulas derived from different understandings of the capitalist transition in the region. Finally, it lists some questions about the relevance of the categories of permanent revolution, interrupted revolution, and autocracy in order to analyze the realities of Latin America in the 21st century.
